Basics of Biomaterials and Biomechanics(English)(1),23/24-P

The study course focuses on the main directions of biomechanics and biomaterials science, structures of hard and soft biological tissues, their biochemical composition and mechanical properties. Mechanical and biological factors influencing the mechanical behaviour of tissues are analysed, as well as changes in the mechanical properties of biological tissues during regeneration and ageing processes.
Using the acquired knowledge about tissue properties, the necessary mechanical features of tissue replacement biomaterials, as well as the mechanical behaviour of prosthetic elements made of biomaterials and the factors influencing the longevity of biomaterials are examined.
